Sevenoaks Rugby 38 – 29 Worthing RFC

Sevenoaks Rugby secured a high-octane victory over Worthing RFC at a sunny Knole Paddock on Saturday 5 April 2025. The hard ground felt more suited to 7s than the full 15-a-side format, which made for a cracking running rugby encounter where Worthing were in contention all the way to the final Oaks try.

Worthing opened the account when left wing Charlie Spencer, imposing all day, went over for a sore that Taylor duly converted. Sevenoaks were stung into response and duly secured three unanswered tries. First over the line was Sam Begbie after a dink over the top from Ben Adams put him through for a try that Adams then converted. A break from David Ruffai in the middle of the park set up the next Oaks score, with lock Kenny Lee going in under the posts. Zac Shircliff secured the third following another neat grubber. Worthing pegged a try back for the half-time score in the form of Josh Taylor, which he then converted, for the teams to head into the sheds with the Oaks 19-14 up.

With the wind at their backs, Sevenoaks opened the scoring for the second half when Ollie Green barrelled through for a try that Adams converted. Worthing rapidly responded and it was game on before Sevenoaks advanced home in a compelling encounter where Worthing kept playing to the end.

First on the board in the second half was Angus Southon who drove over for Oaks, conversion cleared by Adams. A breakaway by Worthing kept them in the game until the 80th minute, where Sevenoaks unleashed Jamie Horner, diving into the corner sealing the match for Oaks.
